Full Snow Moon

Full Snow Moon
By Tara Sutphen

The Snow Moon at 9* Virgo will culminate February 28, 2010, 08:38am PST/11:38am EST (almanac). The time of allowing yourself to shine, be it in the workplace or through radiant health. Being in sync with how you create security and well being. Isn't it time to enjoy your vocation, to create good health from lack of stress as you live your life, your way. If life has lacked luster what would make it shimmer. Would you make a change in your career, or just your everyday patterns and routine. Have you been fighting minor or chronic health issues. Are you listening to your body, to your mind and assessing your needs. Or do you ignore your inner dialogue due to bills you have to pay and the demands of your time and energy. How about procrastination, do you say you'll take care of yourself and your obligations for a 'real life' tomorrow or soon. Do you do for everyone else but you. Or put off today what you could do tomorrow. Do you waste your time sidetracking your goals and personal success due to over-socializing or hiding in activities such as excess television or media related activities. Are you a good judge of how others squander their time and lives. What are the essentials and non essentials of your life, or do you know. Mistakes are made when we don't go with our natural flow and tune in to what we wish for and require. We live an invisible agenda, we can act comfortable and repressed or we can confront our feelings, risk our time and energy and grace ourselves with vitality and fortitude. Choose your health, it will lead you to people of strong mind and bodies. Choose to learn and grow, it will lead you to choose wisely your career or job. And if you must work at a job that doesn't suit you, it's never too late to begin what does satisfy you. It might not happen immediately but it will develop if you set goals. You are only a step away from living the life you dream.......

Journal Questions:
Are you confused about what you want to do as a job or career? Are you confused on how you got to this place that makes you feel boxed in? Why do you feel boxed in? What little steps can you start to do to get yourself out of your ruts? Are you depressed? What has brought about your restlessness, anxiousness or depression? How can you fix your emotions? Can you detach? Can you make commitments? What do you feel are your strengths in life? What are your medical problems? Are you passive or pro-active? How are you healing yourself? Is there anyone to talk to that understands your health problems, frustrations or sadness? If not, why? and if so, who and how do they help you. Write down the advice they've given. If it's several people, write their names down. They can be Dr's, Therapists, Parents, Family, Friends --- Are you following any advice? Can you remember what their advice is and write it in your journal? Or do you have theories on how you might be able to bring yourself out of issues or the doldrums. What would allow you to advance? Are you procrastinating? Saving your aspirations to act upon them some rainy day or down the road? What makes you excited? Why don't you decide to alleviate any sign of unrest the minute it happens to you? You know upon the planet there are many modalities of healing. Maybe you need to start taking care of these issues before they are problems. There is always a way out of any situation, be it your health, how you make money or your emotional security. You must choose a direction and slowly go the course. Don't put off tomorrow what you can do today. Your life is about Now...not yesterday or tomorrow. You can do it.

25*Aquarius New Moon
By Tara Sutphen

25* Aquarius New Moon this month, culminating February 13, 2010. The Aquarius new moon is about intellectualizing your need to be seen in the world and by others. How do you want others to take notice of you. It can be a talent or a deed. It can be about being loved for you, "being yourself". Maybe it's for your sincerity level, enhanced charisma or being held special in some way. Could you be loved and admired for all sorts of things you don't fully understand. Or are you not loved enough and question why. It could be that you push people away to test their endurance and seriousness. Do you confuse romantic love with general everyday love or respect. And if you aren't feeling loved or appreciated, where are you allowing yourself to be disheartened. You may feel you've become a wallflower or blending with wallpaper. Even if you are overly busy, you may be spreading yourself thin blending with mad dash anxious society. We shouldn't have to be overt, whine or wail to be noticed. Usually quite the opposite if we want to generate friends and natural fulfillment, the first gesture would be to take the focus off yourself and express simple manners, or gestures of connection. Kindness for kindness sake. It's the start of your spirit being fulfilled by others who in turn will fulfill you.

Journal Questions:
Do you put your best foot forward when meeting new people? Or do you stall and feel awkward? Why? What do they have that you don't have? Where do you lack confidence around others? What do you find likable in yourself? What do you think others see as likable qualities in you? What do you learn from others? Do your expectations run high regarding others? How high? ON: Your family? Your love partners? Your friends? Your co-workers? General passers by? how do others enhance you? How do others inspire you? How are you disappointed by those close? How are you enhanced by those close? Do you have a hard time sustaining long term friendships or relationships? How could you change your viewpoint to fulfillment? How often are you hard on yourself during the day? Do you say to yourself 'that was dumb, I'm stupid, what was I thinking, that sort of inner banter? Do you build yourself just as much. Can be simple, I'm looking healthy today, I like when I wear that color or smiling at yourself in a mirror. Self acceptance. People may disappoint us over and over, but it is wise to work on not disappointing oneself. Sometimes we are asked to leave others behind in our life. Be it by rash or beneficial decision, it hurts and may not feel right at the time. We can feel like we are failing. We need to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps. There will be success, there will be failure in all that we do. Keep moving forward, living, breathing, hoping and loving. It's how us humans roll.

Full Wolf Moon
By Tara Sutphen

The Wolf Moon at 10* Leo will culminate January 29, 2010, 10:18pm PST/Janary 30, 2010 1:18am EST (ephemeris). The time of looking into who inspires you and using it as a direction for your creativity, talent or abilities. You need to develop your sense of style. Look at yourself from the inside out and then from the outside in. Take a moment to really look. Life is full of possibilities. How do you use your outlook. How far does your outlook go. Is your inner search matching your outer search. Are you far reaching in your outlook or are you constricting the flow of ideas. Are you moving yourself into action with those thoughts and set goals. How are you stopped by progress in your life and if you were to come up with new inventive ways of thought, word and deed. You have the capacity for brilliance and limitless options. Coming into clarity of what we really need in our lives. It's time of creation. What would you like to actualize in your life. Love. Friendships. Harmony. Laughter. Money. Moving. Spiritual contentment. Health. Let creation begin.

Journal Questions:

What inspires you in your environment? Who inspires you and the inner and outer qualities they possess? How would you be like them? How are you inspiring others? What kind of hope do you possess in the world? What are your long time dreams? What are your short term dreams? Are they realistic? Are they idealistic? Is your job satisfying, how could you spark new ideas into your work day or into your job? How can you spark romance and fun into your love life? How can you spark ideas for more money and security? How can you spark ideas for your health? Write down what is your purpose? Explain. If you lived in the perfect house for you, what would it look like? If you were in the perfect love relationship, what would it look like? If you had the perfect job, what would it look like. It starts with an idea, and you speak of that idea and then you find a way to manifest the idea. You know if it's a workable conclusion from the get go, people who seem to move into easy good health, love or prosperity make space in their lives for achievement. Most often the tool is not money, as that is only one of the rewards or helper tools. Move into hope and grace, move into vitality and courage, move into possibilities and action. Goals need push and sometimes pull, you can do it.

Luminous Moon
By Tara Sutphen

Luminous, Sparkling, Gleaming
The moon shines down upon you.
As you bask in the glow
Ask for what you need
and desire in your life
The moon is your personal spotlight
As though you are on a stage
the moon alights you
And you are seen in the world

You open your energy for love, great health,
success, wisdom beauty,
and
prosperity on all levels
For the earth is full of bounty
and blessings
and
they are yours
by birthright.

We ask it, We beseech it, We mark it, and So it is.....

When I started using the moon for rituals. I would invite a handful of friends. We'd sit around and meditate, talk, enjoy the company, I'd call the circle to order and we would settle into talking about what was going on in our lives. I would speak of the Astrological aspects universally, how it affected us on the planet in general and how it pertained personally to each person. We would process fears and what positive steps could be taken to alleviate those fears. Solutions on clearing the mind and try to come up with less confusing plans on what direction to take in important decisions and everyday life. We would look at what personal goals to pursue and to ask ourselves if our dreams and wants were realistic and to be honest to ourselves about what wasn't working in our lives and why.

Also how much time and energy was going to be needed to acquire our target and purpose. Sometimes trying to decipher why the Universe was not listening to a personal plea. Where were the blocks and why? What was wrong. Were there steps that could be taken to make it right? We were a council.

Our meetings were set on the full moon. It gave the group an agenda to follow. We wanted more, and added the New Moon as a time to meet as well, The New Moon being the time of darkness, of where dreams are born. The routine was an ongoing process where we let the Astrological influence of the moon be our guide. After the discussion I would lead a meditation and we then sat with the moon meditating and feeling the moon's potency.

I wasn't as much a moon worshipper as I was a night time star gazer as a child. My daughter, Cheyenne has by far been my Pagan child, She would want to light candles and make wishes all throughout her childhood. I've taken her to England, Ireland and Scotland for many trips. She's hugged many a dolman stone.

Moon worshipping has come with many spiritual practices but primarily now is connected to Pagans. Paganism is a love of nature similar to Native Americans believing that it awakens their sixth sense. Tuning into the environment instead of tuning out. Listening, Perceiving, being conscious of the symbols and sounds of their surroundings.

The moon is in control of all the water in the world and when it is full...the power of the cosmos at that time is immense. Here's a few facts off of Keith Cooley's moon page.

The gravitational force of the moon is one ten-millionth that of earth, but when you combine other forces such as the earth's centrifugal force created by its spin, you get tides.
The sun's gravitational force on the earth is only 46 percent that of the moon. Making the moon the single most important factor for the creation of tides.
The sun's gravity also produces tides. But since the forces are smaller, as compared to the moon, the effects are greatly decreased.

Spring tides happen when the sun and moon are on the same side of the earth (New Moon) or when the sun and moon are on opposite sides of the earth (Full Moon).

Are we part of the collective whole or are we single in our pursuits for recognition in a big and vast powerful world? Do we try in life to achieve what we want and desire or do we wait it out? Life happens and we die without trying to gain a foothold in life's pursuit of all good things. I've studied different psychic sciences to research "blueprints". I find that we definitely have somewhat of a plan but do we always activate our talents? Does our self esteem let us move forward to obtain our full potential?

Early in the sorcing I was thinking I would just play and ask for a big sign. I would put great intent behind this surprise and one day I feel it happened. Queen Elizabeth's office in London called my office and wanted to use a picture I had taken in Scotland of the Queen and her family. They wanted to use the photo for one of the Queen's promotional events. Random as random could be.

It's not all about the moon or conjuring the extra ordinary power of what this planet can offer, it's also about personal aim and the focus of those goals. The bounty of this planet and opportunities that are limitless, it's a good idea to have a general plan. Starting off with: You know you want:

Love, Great Health, Money, Career, Friendships, Romance, Happiness, & Prosperity.

Step into your personal power. Advance your life. Create the life you want to live. It may not happen overnight but it will happen. Sorce it!

According to the Farmers Almanac

Full Moon Names and Their Meanings
Full Moon names date back to Native Americans, of what is now the northern and eastern United States. The tribes kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full Moon. Their names were applied to the entire month in which each occurred. There was some variation in the Moon names, but in general, the same ones were current throughout the Algonquin tribes from New England to Lake Superior. European settlers followed that custom and created some of their own names. Since the lunar month is only 29 days long on the average, the full Moon dates shift from year to year. Here is the Farmers Almanac's list of the full Moon names.

• Full Wolf Moon - January Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. Thus, the name for January's full Moon. Sometimes it was also referred to as the Old Moon, or the Moon After Yule. Some called it the Full Snow Moon, but most tribes applied that name to the next Moon.

• Full Snow Moon - February Since the heaviest snow usually falls during this month, native tribes of the north and east most often called February's full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult.

• Full Worm - March Moon As the temperature begins to warm and the ground begins to thaw, earthworm casts appear, heralding the return of the robins. The more northern tribes knew this Moon as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of winter; or the Full Crust Moon, because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation. To the settlers, it was also known as the Lenten Moon, and was considered to be the last full Moon of winter.

• Full Pink Moon - April This name came from the herb moss pink, or wild ground phlox, which is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring. Other names for this month's celestial body include the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and among coastal tribes the Full fish Moon, because this was the time that the shad swam upstream to spawn.

• Full Flower Moon - May In most areas, flowers are abundant everywhere during this time. Thus, the name of this Moon. Other names include the Full Corn Planting Moon, or the Milk Moon.

• Full Strawberry Moon - June This name was universal to every Algonquin tribe. However, in Europe they called it the Rose Moon. Also because the relatively short season for harvesting strawberries comes each year during the month of June . . . so the full Moon that occurs during that month was christened for the strawberry!

• The Full Buck Moon - July July is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer push out of their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. It was also often called the Full Thunder Moon, for the reason that thunderstorms are most frequent during this time. Another name for this month's Moon was the Full Hay Moon.

• Full Sturgeon Moon - August The fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the great lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.

• Full Corn Moon - September This full moon's name is attributed to Native Americans because it marked when corn was supposed to be harvested. Most often, the September full moon is actually the harvest Moon.

• Full Harvest Moon - October This is the full Moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox . In two years out of three, the Harvest Moon comes in September, but in some years it occurs in October. At the peak of harvest, farmers can work late into the night by the light of this Moon. Usually the full Moon rises an average of 50 minutes later each night, but for the few nights around the Harvest Moon, the Moon seems to rise at nearly the same time each night: just 25 to 30 minutes later across the U.S., and only 10 to 20 minutes later for much of Canada and Europe. Corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice the chief Indian staples are now ready for gathering.

• Full Beaver Moon - November This was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter. It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon.

• The Full Cold Moon; or the Full Long Nights Moon - December During this month the winter cold fastens its grip, and nights are at their longest and darkest. It is also sometimes called the Moon before Yule. The term Long Night Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long, and because the Moon is above the horizon for a long time. The midwinter full Moon has a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite a low Sun.
